Gt it fixed! Part 4: Syria!

Part 4: Syria

We've been watching the meltdown in Syria for over a year now on our news networks. An uprising, part of the Arab Spring, against a tyrant called Assad.

I guess the opinions on this matter aren't differing on wether or not Assad is a dick. The question is more: "How, as an international community, should we go about dealing with the Syria situation?"

The international community might not be able to come to agreement, but perhaps here on UT we can. Should we get involved militarily? To what extend? Should we limit ourselves to diplomacy, possibly including economic sanctions and weapons trade embargoes?

What would -your- roadmap be towards restoring peace in Syria?

This isn't an easy one. It's not even as easy as Libya. Assad has got to go, that's the simple part. He's a viscous dictator, and it's clear that he can't be an effective leader of Syria. But it's not as easy as just putting the rebels in power either. There are some very real concerns with them as well, particularly their leader. This is less of a righteous rebellion and more of a civil war.

tl;dr: I have no idea.

True, refer to the new government in Egypt for example. It is even more islamic and radical than Mubarak's regime was.

Good thing is that the Egyptians are heavily protesting this new regime as well.

Nimon i assume you meant "vicious dictator", maybe you can say that about his father but Bashar is anything but that, since he took over power until the insurrection started no Syrians were outright killed or dissapeared or had anything happen to them that one would attribute to a vicious dictator. Civilians dying in what is now a Civil War is what has happened in every single previous one in history. Bashar does not oversee military operations, he is simply the symbol of power . Bashar is actually a very nice guy who never chose power he was the best choice to ensure a safe transition from his father and avoid a power struggle among the top dogs. No matter how this ends i hope whatever agreement they reach, Bashar's safety and freedom is guaranteed.

As for the Civil War itself, well you cant really call it that since at least half of the fighters are either Al Qaeda affilliated or Muslim Jihadists from all over who saw an opportunity in Syria to establish influence (Al Qaeda) or were paid to fight by Saudi and Qatar and their regional puppets such as Saad Hariri. All of which is motivated by religion, Assad an Alawite is hated by the Sunni powers b/c they are an offshoot of Shi'a and ofcourse there is nothing the Saudis hate more than the Shi'a, and they want to do all they can to weaken Iran and its allies and what they percieve as their plan to spread this notion of Wilayat al Fakih. For those who dont know, the Sunnis have been trying to eradicate the Shi'a for 1300 years.

The best solution right now is to stop all the fighting and have a vote on whether Bashar should stay in power, this is something the regime is willing to do. However the rebels and their backers in the Gulf dont want this b/c they know there is a good chance Bashar will win the vote.

Everyone is shouting and screaming about Dictators but the world now has a dictator and its called the USA. They do as they please, if they like you its cool we wont worry about human rights violations or the fact youre a damn MONARCHY and one FKN FAMILY has all the positions of power and a religious group (SHI'A) is marginalized and women arent allowed to even drive and you behead people for sorcery, no its okay Saudi Arabia is fine we dont want regime change there, they give us oil. When it comes to Syria, USA puts sanctions, no one is allowed to give a dollar to help the LEGITIMATE government of a country, if you do the US will freeze your bank accounts. But its okay if you give Al Qaeda infested rebels money, weapons and smuggle men to fight in Syria. The US starts bitching when Russia is fulfilling military contracts they had with Syria long before the Arab Spring. Since when did Russia become so spineless? Or maybe the USA so damn arrogant? Not too long ago USA was supplying Afghans against Russia, which as we know turned out to be a fatal mistake. When is China gonna wake up? There should never be one side that has all the power, there needs to be a balance. Im done for now, maybe later ill make a thread on how the USA is the dictator among nations.

Death Before Dishonour

When the righteous lose this battle, it is because they, in a wrongful society, exist as individuals whereas the materialists gang up. The Quran suggests the righteous get together and form an alliance against the wrongdoers.
